A Tale of Two Sisters

wilma henderson gave birth to twin girls on a weekday. everything seemed normal until the doctor gave the routine spank to make them inhale. as soon the as air entered their lungs a glow filled the delivery room, and their skin changed color. wilma thought she was the only one seeing the strange spectacle of crying luminescent babies until she realized the nurses were shielding their own eyes. she named her girls neon and dionne, and after a rough childhood the sisters moved to california where they became successful recording artists. hush tang was their first release on a major label which consisted of lullabies for migrant babies in the citrus groves.

Whose Musical Opportunity Is It?

jane (a regular thursday customer) read this note in a fortune cookie yesterday and shared it with me: "an interesting musical opportunity is in your future." she got it from ross, so that means i was the third person to read it. ross always orders a cappuccino, grilled cheese, and something with chocolate on thursday. this was the first time i'd seen him with a fortune cookie. the ironic thing about this fortune cookie note is that i (david cedillo) actually make musical opportunities for average people! it just so happens that i will have a music table set up in front of the culinary center next friday (april 17) at 6pm where pedestrians can play fruit, vegetables, and a theremin. the culinary center is within easy walking distance of homer's. if you're scratching your head and wondering how it's possible to play bananas and carrots, go to beep goes the weasel for pics, links, and videos.

First Time For Everything

beep goes the weasel was scheduled at homer's last saturday night. it was the first time vegetables were played on stage by the audience. it was the first time we played a moog theremini in public. and it was the first time we could all find the humor in an old school bus safety video. 

In The Not Too Distant Future

last summer i received a grant for an art project that invited people join me at the snack bar to play vegetables in between movies at a local drive-in theater. in february we're going to try this @ homer's in between educational film shorts. check back for more details.

Christmas Week Already

The Crossing

while camping out in arkansas last week, my wife and i visited a coffeehouse in russellville. the crossing could be the offspring of homer's coffeehouse: it's christian based, hosts live local music, and they give back a portion of their profits to local charities and organizations. we went there 3 times in four days. the gable bradley band (above) drove over an hour to play friday night. double punches if you can guess what arkansas town they came from! the answer to last friday's trivia: true

Thumbs Up For RVGB!

homer's was the place to be thursday night for retro video game bash! radio hits from the 90s and 80s mingled with the familiar sounds of golden eye, mario kart, defender, and missile command. when the asteroid dust settled there were three guys left standing. ben took home the first place trophy (and a gift card to homer's and vintage stock), ian won the worst zelda game ever made (along with a free homer's drink coupon), and the third place prize was my lava lamp (ian stanford received as a proxy, the actual winner went home early). the N64's golden eye was based on the 17th james bond movie by the same name, TRIVIA: how many james bond movies are there? 20? 21? 23? double punches if you know the answer! the answer to thursday's trivia: moon patrol.

Beep Goes On Live TV

angie and i were on kc live this morning promoting a summer project called beep goes the weasel. the folks at homer's even tuned in to watch! we showed joel nichols and michelle davidson how to play vegetables like a keyboard. joel showed off his mad music skills when he tapped out a certain tune... can you guess what it was? louie louie? i can't get no satisfaction? smoke on the water? double punches if you guess right! oh and the answer to tuesday's trivia question: alot of puns.

The Last Ramone Is Gone
