there's really nothing special about this post on the day after memorial day. i'm just wondering how everyone else spent their 3 day weekend (mine was a normal two day weekend).

there was a movie in the nineties called six degrees of separation. the title basically means out of every 6 people, you (or someone you know) know one of those people. last night i was towed home by a guy who is related to phil hall. phil used to work with me at homer's. if you know how much i had to pay for that tow, you get a free drink today! everyone else gets double punches.

Happy Birthday Bob Moog!

it's bob moog's birthday! google even posted an online moog synth to honor this great inventor. so who is bob moog? he's widely recognized as an american pioneer of electronic music, and his legacy is an inspiration for my own experimental sounds. bob moog would have been 78 today.

Hypnotic Earrings

terry (a regular customer) was wearing these earrings yesterday, and the spiral design almost hypnotized me into giving her a free drink... she got an extra punch on her card instead. that was a close one.

Lester... VERY!

homer's is glad to welcome back lester estelle tonight @ 7:30. ashley (my co-worker) asked me if he's good, to which i answered "VERY!" lester is one of the most talented people that plays on a regular basis. he's left handed, and flips the guitar upside down like slim whitman. he can also make his guitar sound like a horn instrument or a piano. i made my guitar sound like it was talking this morning using a plunger and a tube.

Little Big Gift

earlier this month kelly had a birthday. i watched alot of customers wish her a happy birthday and bring her gifts. one of the gifts was a mini watercolor set. it was one of those things that looked small, but was a big hit with kelly since she's an artist.

Bob Knows About Neon

last week there was a blog post asking if anyone knew who discovered neon... bob w stepped up, gave us the answer, and won a scoop of mocha almond fudge ice cream! way to go bob! and, as always, anyone can get double punches toward a free drink just by reading the blog.

Trista, Laura, and Me

last friday i went back to the crossroads art district to make noise through old boomboxes on the sidewalk. laura and trista (two co-workers) met me there, and stayed for almost an hour. this street performance is something i call mondo beep. it's a work in progress. this will be the fourth time i've done it this year. trista and laura are the third set of friends that have joined me on 18th street between wyandotte and baltimore. who knows? maybe next month it will be you.

Early to Rise

i was looking for coffee trivia or recent photos to help make a decent blog post this morning... but nothing felt right. to be honest, i'm still waking up. technically, i woke up at 4:45am this morning. i work the opening shift on tuesdays. i used to get up this early for two other employers: a donut shop and a TV station. one of these days i'll keep normal hours. oh man, i just realized that i made this same blog post almost two years ago... guess i'm a recycler.

Catch Up

alright, we are four days into the month of may without any updates on the blog... sorry. it's time to play catch up! may 1: happy birthday kelly! ok, that was the main thing i wanted to post. what else has been happening? well, one of our regulars (rachel) made a facebook page for her favorite drink: the white chocolate freeze, and laura made some coffee art (pictured above) that she explains on the audio track below.
