Ready, Aim, Shoot
homer's hosted a photo shoot yesterday. the good folks at alistair tutton photography requested the use of our space to take pictures that will be in a local brochure. apparently they liked the location and the colors. we liked the attention.

Still Hangin' Around
this was one of the pictures i took with my cell phone camera yesterday. it's a sculpture that heather healy made from broken dishes and various utensils. heather left homer's a couple of weeks ago to start a new job. she was the third one from her family to leave her mark here. the other two family members that worked as baristas were her mother ann and her brother tim. it was a pleasure working with them all.

American Routes
this morning we're listening to american routes radio at homer's. it's a cool collection of americana, swing, blues, and a smattering of other genres that i can't think of right now. it's a perfect blend of music while sipping hot coffee.

Dark Roast Beans
i read an article about coffee beans this morning. according to a coffee roasting aficianado, "dark roasted coffee is essentially burnt beans... large scale roasters do this 'to add roasty and smoke flavors' to defective or stale green coffees, which wouldn't have had ANY desirable flavors were the coffees roasted lighter... dark roasting good coffee will cost you all the nutty, fruity and distinctive notes that make each bean special." you'll be happy to know that homer's does NOT buy (or sell) burnt beans.

T-Shirt Kilt Part 2
so i actually wore my t-shirt kilt to the scottish highland games last saturday, and a dozen people complimented me on it. i usually don't get nice comments on my fashion sense unless i'm wearing a suit or a donkey kong t-shirt. what does this have to do with homer's you ask? check out the previous post.

The T-Shirt Kilt
sandy, a regular customer, told us that she was going on vacation (scotland, i think) with her husband. i asked her to bring me back a kilt. when she got back recently, she gave me this awesome t-shirt, and now i have something i can wear to the highlands festival! thanks sandy! on a semi-related note, i'm also expecting a drum machine t-shirt in the mail soon.
