Congratulations David!

david justman won the trivia challenge at homer's today. he correctly named maxwell house as the name on the coffee can that jon cryer used for an alias (maxwell hauser) in 1987's hiding out. after an obligatory handshake and a mighty 'hi ho silver!' david rode off into the sunset with a free drink card.

Reluctant Monday

i know my reluctance to get out of bed at the beginning of the work week is part of a greater collective. alot of customers that i see between 8:30am and 6pm rely on caffeine to start the day and the week. we get up when we have to, we hide out when we can. segue. hiding out is a lesser known 80s movie in which jon cryer pretends to be a high school student to avoid a mob hit. to avoid detection, cryer changes his appearance and his name. cryer's alias is borrowed from a coffee can that he sees in the principal's office. was it A) hill's bros.? B) sanka? C) maxwell house? if you're the first customer with the right answer for a barista, you get a free drink today! everyone else gets double drink card punches for trying.

Yippee Ki-Yay John!

today's trivia winner was john ainsworth, he correctly guessed laredo as the shortest track on charles david smart's CD, unsung heros: guitar songs of the american west. john declined the original prize (a slim pickens autograph), and asked for a 12 ounce skinny mexican mocha instead. way to stick to your guns and ride 'em cowboy.

Homer's On The Range

charles david smart is a talented performer who has been playing at homer's longer than i can remember. he has played solo acoustic shows, and has also been joined on stage with a band to deliver rock, blues, and other genres that stay upbeat. on smart's latest CD, unsung heroes: guitar songs of the american west, he covers tunes by roy rogers, gene autry, the sons of the pioneers, just to name a few classic artists. if you know the shortest track on this CD, and tell a barista, you get a free drink today! everyone else gets double drink card punches for trying. now git along little doggies! oh man, i almost forgot to congratulate josh frierdich for getting the trivia (and a free iced mocha) yesterday. the mystery quote was spoken by tom waits. way to go josh!
